Laminated Flooring
If you have a small budget for your flooring project, perhaps you should consider laminated wood flooring. Not only are the materials cheaper than real wood flooring, but you can buy it in a kit form and do the laying yourself so as not to have to pay a carpenter to lay them for you.
Laminated Flooring kits normally are made up of the following:
- Laminated Wood panels
- pull bar
- tapping block
- floor spacers
Sales statistics from flooring companies indicate that laminated flooring products are starting to out sell real wood flooring products. Apart from the fact that laminated flooring is easy to install and cheaper than real wood flooring, one other large contributor to its success is that it is low maintenance and does not required sanding and re varnishing after 5-10 years.
Laminated flooring was invented by a Swedish company called Pergo, and many still refer to laminated flooring as Pergo. It is made from a melamine compound and while Green office activists are concerned that the glue used may release toxins into te air, this is yet to be proven.
No real hard wood is used in the production of laminated flooring, in fact the pattern is in fact a photograph which has been taken of the real wood flooring product the manufactures are trying to copy.
